Division A Fall Contest set ... Wed. Oct. 10th!

Where:
The Fall contest for Division A will be held on Wed. October 10th at the Wooster School Library, hosted by WestConn Toastmasters.

When:
Contestants and Judges (at least one from each Area) should arrive by 6:45-7pm and we will start promptly at 7:30pm.

Why:
Because Toastmaster contests are an incredible opportunity for contestants to push the limits of their speaking skills and an even bigger opportunity for attendees to witness (and learn from) some of the best speakers we have in our Division. It is also a LOT OF FUN !

Hope to see you there !

Advanced Toastmasters club - Conference call "meeting"

Greetings Advanced Toastmasters !

We had a conference call meeting tonight at 8pm (if you missed it, send Dave Wheeler an email at theshot92@gmail.com and he can send you more info.)

Even though there was a potential "technical difficulty", it never materialized and the call went off without a hitch!

Here is the agenda for we used for the conference call ....
  • Meeting time(s) / location(s)
  • Eligibility (Advanced TM, others?)
  • Charter membership fee ($75/yr)
  • April 19th kickoff event ("Battle of the Border")
  • Goals for the club - what do we want to get out of it?

If you missed the conference call, we will also be having a club meeting at the Ridgefield Library in the History Room next Thursday at 7:15pm. Unless we decide otherwise on the conference call, the next meeting will have at least one target speech that we can all view and then we will discuss "Advanced Evaluations".

Area A3 Contests... set for April 4th

From Dave Wheeler, Division A Governor:

Since I have not gotten any responses the email I sent out last week, I made an "executive decision" and scheduled the Area A3 contest in conjunction with the Area A1 / A5 Contest on April 4th. (I have already discussed the subject with Area A1 & A5).

We want to make sure we give all the clubs in Area A3 the opportunity to participate in the Spring contests ! They should also be aware that each area will have their own trophies so while the contests are being run together, the competitions will only be within each Area!

Good Morning Dave.
The Area Contests should start real soon now. And it
looks like Division A is nearly ready for the march to the

Idea for an International Speech?????

I read this post (copied below) by Seth Godin and thought it would make a good "kernel" of an idea that could be developed into speech for the International Contest.

Manana...

If you could do tomorrow over again, would you?

Most of us live programmed lives. Tomorrow is set, finished, done, and you haven't even started it yet.

And we accept that as part of the deal in setting goals and reaching them.

But what about the tomorrow thirty days from now? Or a year?

If you could do those over, would you? How?

It is not a big post, but it is an interesting idea ....

On a related topic.... has your club and area planned the date for your Spring Speech Contest? How many people are working on their Tall Tales and International speeches? Do you have a manual that you are going to target for the speeches so you get credit towards your next award?

Happy Contests !
