Re: Officer Training date for NY !

Special thanks to Area A3 Governor Ozgur Turkmen and (former Area A3 Governor), current Club President of Orange County Toastmasters, John Capen for scheduling and hosting, respectively, the 2nd training session.

Add it to your schedule!
Officers from other areas are welcome too !

The NY edition of the Div. A Mid-winter Leadership Exchange (officer training) will be held ...

Monday, Feb.4th
6:30-8:30pm at
Gardnertown United Methodist Church
1191 Union Ave.
Newburgh, NY 12550

Here's the
link to the map of Methodist Church's location.

Now we just need to find a club whose officers are willing to be the "center of attention" for the case study approach. It should be a great experience for them and they will come back from this leadership exchange session with an incredible number of ideas to boost their club.

Let me know which club you think might be interested. If you want, feel free to have them contact me for more information about the process. I will be traveling all next week, so hopefully we can get it figured out this week.

Division F contest results !!

The Division F Tall Tales and International Speech Contests were held on April 24th at GE Global Research Center, Steinmetz Hall, in Niskayuna, NY. The facilities were excellent... the speeches were given in a lecture hall with sloped seating and great acoustics. In addition, there was pizza and soda provided ... very good pizza, I should point out!

Regarding pictures of the winners (or my lack thereof) .... I did bring my digital camera, but due to the security at the GE Research Center ... and the big signs saying that pictures and cameras are not allowed... I decide that I did not want to risk bringing it into the contest.

The winners of the contests were as follows...
Tall Tales Speech Contest Results
1st place – Don Countermine, Clifton Park Speakers Club #7877
2nd place - Christina van Hoesen, Bethlehem Club #542

International Speech Contest Results
1st place - Neal Benoit, Patroon Club #3863
2nd place - Yun Li, Mohawk Club #1931

BIG EVENT in Division A ... April 19th !

The Toastmasters "Battle of the Border !" has been scheduled !

Thursday, April 19th, 2007, 7:15-8:45pm
in the Dayton Room at the Ridgefield Library, 472 Main St., Ridgefield, CT,

Two divisions on the border between District 53 and District 46 will go "head to head" in an [unofficial] International Speech Contest for bragging rights on the CT/NY border.

This event will also kick off our Div. A Advanced Club by featuring contest winners from Div.A (D53) and Div.G (D46) as well as other award winning speakers. Div.D (D53) winners have also been invited to compete if they are interested since they also border District 46 (in Southern Fairfield County).

The Dayton room at the Ridgefield Libary holds 60 people, has audio/visual equipment and a raised stage so it will be excellent preparation for our Division contestants before they compete in the District contest in May.

If you will attend, please send us an email (it is a big room, but we hope fill it up !):
Div.A Governor, Dave Wheeler at theshot92@gmail.com or
Area A4 Governor, Anne Swartout at rebrokerct@aol.com.
